Terms of Service
The short version
- ARBLAST is a physical game. Play only in a clear, safe area that a responsible adult has set up, walk don't run, and stop when the game says STOP.
- Children play with an adult's permission, and organisers supervise their games.
- Player accounts are optional and for 13 and over (older in some countries). Organiser accounts are for adults running games for a school, club or venue.
- Be decent. No cheating, harassment or offensive names, and don't attack the service.
- Your rights under Australian Consumer Law are not affected by anything here.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Hatchify Pty Ltd ("we", "us"), which makes ARBLAST: the iPhone and Android apps, the organiser console at console.arblast.io, the game servers and this website (together, "ARBLAST"). By using ARBLAST you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you're under 18, please read them with a parent or guardian. If you organise games for a school, club or venue, you agree to them for yourself and confirm you're allowed to use ARBLAST for that organisation.
2. Who can use ARBLAST
- Players can play without an account. Children should play only with the permission of a parent, guardian or teacher, and in games run by a responsible adult.
- Player accounts (for features like friends and invites) are only for people aged 13 or over, or older where the country you choose for your account sets a higher age for having one without a parent's consent (for example 16 in Germany; our Privacy Policy lists them). If you're younger, you can keep playing without an account.
- Organiser accounts are for adults (18+) who run games for a school, club, venue or event. We review each organiser before approving the account and may decline or remove any account.
3. Play safely
ARBLAST happens in the real world, so real-world risks apply: you can trip, bump into people or objects, or drop your phone. To play safely:
- Play only in a clear, flat area that's free of obstacles, steps, traffic and water, set up by the organiser, and stay inside the arena's boundary.
- Walk, don't run. Keep looking up and around you, not just at your screen.
- Obey the safety warnings (STOP, OUT OF BOUNDS, TOO CLOSE, OBSTACLE, SLOW DOWN) and the organiser's instructions straight away. When the organiser presses STOP, stop moving.
- Keep a safe distance from other players; never touch or push anyone.
- Take breaks, stay hydrated, and stop if you feel unwell, dizzy or your phone gets hot.
ARBLAST's safety warnings help, but they can't see everything and aren't a substitute for a safe area, adult supervision and your own care. You're responsible for your phone.
4. If you organise games
As an organiser you're responsible for the games you run. You agree to:
- choose and check a suitable area, set the arena boundary well away from walls, steps, doors and spectators, and supervise every game;
- get any permission needed from your school, club, venue and parents or guardians, and follow their policies (including child-safety, supervision and photography rules);
- group players sensibly by age and size, explain the safety rules before play, and use STOP whenever something isn't safe;
- keep your sign-in details private, and use event names — not children's names — for match titles;
- only contact players through ARBLAST in the ways it allows, about your games, and keep every message appropriate for children.
- if you stream or record a game: tell the players (and, for children, their parents or guardians and your school, club or venue) before you start, and follow their policies; remind players that their callsigns will be visible, so nicknames are best; stream only to channels you're allowed to use and follow each platform's rules, including its age limits; and stop the stream or delete the recording if a player, parent or your organisation asks.
5. Accounts
Give accurate information, keep your password and sign-in methods secure, and don't share or sell your account. Tell us at support@arblast.io if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account at any time in the app or the console. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.
6. Acceptable use
Don't:
- cheat, exploit bugs, or use modified apps, bots or tools to gain an advantage;
- harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone, or use offensive, hateful or sexual usernames, callsigns, match titles or messages;
- try to contact or locate other players outside what ARBLAST allows, or collect information about them;
- interfere with, overload, probe or reverse engineer our servers or apps, or get around our security or limits;
- use ARBLAST for anything unlawful, or commercially (for example charging for games) without our written permission — schools and clubs running their own sessions don't need permission.
7. Your content
You're responsible for what you enter, such as usernames, callsigns, organisation names, match titles and messages. You give us a free licence to store and show it within ARBLAST to run the service. We may change or remove anything that breaks these terms.
8. Our content
ARBLAST — its apps, game, artwork, characters, sounds, posters, bib designs and code — belongs to Hatchify Pty Ltd or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use ARBLAST under these terms, including printing the posters and bibs we provide for use with ARBLAST, and streaming, recording and posting your own games played with ARBLAST (our artwork and name will appear in them). Don't copy, sell or redistribute them otherwise.
9. Prices and purchases
ARBLAST is currently free. Live streaming and recording have usage limits (for example how many streams can run at once and how many minutes are available each month), which we may change. If we later sell anything (for example printed bibs or paid features), the price and any extra terms will be shown before you buy, and the Australian Consumer Law applies to those purchases.
10. Other services
ARBLAST works with services from other companies, such as the App Store, Google Play, Sign in with Apple, Google sign-in and email delivery. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to how you use them.
11. Availability and changes to ARBLAST
We work to keep ARBLAST available and accurate, but it may sometimes be unavailable, change, or have bugs — especially in test builds. We may change, pause or end features. If we close ARBLAST entirely we'll give reasonable notice where we can.
12. Your consumer rights and our liability
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing in these terms limits those rights or any liability that can't legally be limited. Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: ARBLAST is provided "as is"; we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you is limited to supplying the service again or, if that's not possible, the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free service, is nothing). We're not responsible for harm caused by ignoring the safety guidance in section 3 or an organiser's failure to meet section 4, except where the law says we are.
13. Ending
You can stop using ARBLAST and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if it's needed to keep people safe, or if required by law. Sections 7–8 and 12–14 continue after that.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features. We'll publish the new version here with a new version number and date. For significant changes we'll tell account holders by email or in the app beforehand, and may ask you to accept the new terms to keep using your account. If you don't agree, you can stop using ARBLAST and delete your account.
15. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction — without taking away any right you have to bring a claim where you live. Questions: support@arblast.io or see Support. Privacy questions: privacy@arblast.io.
